Ozone is a powerful and rapidly reacting super oxygen that is consumed within minutes after its production. It is produced from oxygen through the application of an electric current. When applied directly it kills bacteria such as with lyme disease, viruses, parasites and mold such as with candida. When given systemically it has the effect of improving oxygen utilization, enhancing energy production and improved detoxification ability! Also, by creating a mild oxidative stress, it stimulates the immune system to be more active. Because it is unstable, ozone must be utilized within several minutes of being produced, or it will no longer be effective. This is an important theme for parkinsons disease because improving oxygen to the brain and body can make a major difference in the functiuon and progression of degenerative neurologic disease’s. Also oxidation is at the core of parkinsons disease an especially in the basal gangion, where the substantia nigra lives. By creating an adaptation to oxidative stress it could be a game changer for the preservation of neurons as this is the stress that kills these cells and it has been well documented that patients with PD have a challenge with buffering oxidative stress. On top of this improving DETOXIFICATION of the brain and improving energy through mitochondria is also a huge win for the brains ability to improve its functionality and even to improve the symtoms of parkinson’s!
We have been using ozone for 15 years to treat musculoskeletal problems as a component of prolozone (prolotherapy using ozone gas). We have given ozone intravenously and rectally to treat many conditions over the years. In its strongest systemic formulation, we have given ozone by major autohemotransfusion (MAH). The patient’s blood is withdrawn through a needle by gravity, heparinized so it doesn’t clot, then combined with an equal volume of ozone at high concentration, and infused back into the patient. This process has required about 40 minutes for only one pass!
This year I learned about the 10-pass technique or high dose ozone therapy (HOT) from Dr. Frank Shallenberger who has been responsible for the proliferation of ozone therapy in the United States. Ten passes, or ten times the treatment of a single pass, can be given within 60-90 minutes by using a special ozone machine to vacuum the blood into a bottle the system adds ozone under pressure then returns it rapidly back into the body.
The 10-pass is a very powerful and safe treatment. It is used to treat infections, inflammation, auto-immune disease, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and multiple neurologic conditions including Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke, brain and spinal cord inflammation of various types. It can treat Lyme disease, shingles, recurrent herpes simplex, influenza and pneumonia.

One of ozone’s major effects is the production of energy, through improving mitochondrial function. After receiving 10-pass treatment many cases report experiencing vast increases of energy.
